Active learning and hands-on experience is invaluable, and parents, guardians, siblings and peers play an important role in a child's development. As a mom, with school-age kids, i'm always in the lookout for activities that will keep my kids busy on weekends, apart from strolling in the neighborhood with playmates (yes i allow them to play outdoors a lot) and being hooked up with their gadgets.

Having kids ages 6 and 8 years old gives me equal amount of joys and [sometimes] pain as well. With their extremely active and playful nature, i'm sure that a lot of moms with kids of the same age bracket can relate to my sentiments. But more than the pains of running after active kids, it gives me twice the pain when i see them sick, hence i always ensure that they are getting the right amount of vitamins and minerals that is necessary and applicable to their age.
Trick or Treat is a special time of the year that me and my kids would always look forward to. They've been joining the yearly festival since 2011 and they love it for three reasons: the (1) sweet candy treats, (2) the games with loots and prizes and of course (3) the costumes! October of every year is the season when both funny, cute and scary costumes are out in the shops and kids were excited to wear and follow different characters annually. I must say that this year is quite different from all of the years that we've been through, because as much as i wanted to dress them up cute and colorful, last week became a different vibe. It was their first time to dress in black and looked scary (but they're still cute)! Anyhoo, we agreed to that effect because we just wanted to follow the theme for this year's scariest costume party! And i wasn't expecting that it'll be that super spooky!
The past week has brought a lot of trouble and anxiety for parents, not only in our municipality in Bauan but in the whole Southern Tagalog Region. The alarming news about child abductions and kidnapping with reference to four police reports about missing children was really disturbing. As a parent, I couldn’t help but worry about my kids who were at school the whole time and I’m sure a lot of parents are just the same.
Let me just share to you my thoughts about these current issues that are affecting us today as moms. Apart from my busy day to day schedules, I’ve decided not to open my facebook newsfeed because I never want to bother myself all the more with all the posts that the netizens are spreading on the internet. I’m not saying, I don’t care about the situation, but there are more reliable sources that are worthy of my time and attention.
Heading back to school signals a time of transition. For parents it could be the start of a midyear roller coaster because of the added routinary schedules of our day to day lives. But more than our own personal grief on transitions, the adjustment is actually most difficult for our kids. After a long summer vacation, getting your kids into the mood for studies can be an uphill battle. Their enthusiasm may be low or non-existent at all. But it shouldn't be something to be worried about, it's normal.
Somebody said it takes about six weeks to get back to normal after you've had a baby, but honestly, when you become a mother, "normal" is history. Then somebody said that the hardest part of being a mother is labor and delivery, but the truth is, every stages of motherhood is hard like watching my "baby" hop on the school bus for the first day of kindergarten, or soon, on a plane headed for a much deserved career when he’s all grown up. Another, somebody said a mother can stop worrying after her child gets married but don’t you know that marriage adds a new son or daughter-in-law to a mother's heartstrings?
